What are flat fares?

Last Updated: Feb 18, 2014 08:52AM PST
On special occasions when the number of people who need a ride goes up by several fold, Summon must increase the number of drivers on the road by several fold. In an effort to increase the availability of drivers on the road, Summon uses flat fares during these extremely peak hours.

Flat fares are not affected by traffic, and are measured on a per mile basis. Flat fare amounts are subject to change based on the event. Here is an example of how flat fares are broken down per mile:
  • Fares from 0-2 miles - $15
  • Fares from 2-4 miles - $30
  • Fares from 4-6 miles - $45
  • Fares from 6-10 miles - +$15 incrementally
**Note: 2.1 miles traveled falls into the 2-4 mile price range, 4.1 miles falls into the 4-6 mile range, and so on...**

Summon will always be predictable and transparent when using flat fares. We will be clear about our pricing before riders make a request, and ensure that we've given notice about the exact prices at least 24 hours in advance.
